Today for some reason, Pete's name came to mind.. It has been years since we worked together at the IRS as Newbies.. I was only there for a short time and moved back to Texas with my wife Melissa and daughter Laurie. Worked for Army at Ft. Hood, GSA in Ft. Worth, and then with the VA Office of Inspector General in Austin since 1982 retiring in 2006 as manager of Data Analysis for the VAOIG. I recall Pete in the office and coming over to visit us in Annandale, Recalled Anastasia's name but drew a blank on all the other family.. I was glad to have a good Catholic Slavic person to share time with in those early days. Thanks, Pete. I know the world is a little less bright since you left. God Bless you.

I never worked for Pete, worked with him and the people he managed. I will remember his infectious laugh, a sort of "Haw, haw" and a snort. He'll be missed.

Pete was my first supervisor at the IRS way back in 1973. He was also my third supervisor. He was always supportive of me. For some reason I remember his birthday every year on October 20. My condolences to Carol and the rest of the family.

To Carol and the entire Kapitan family. It was my honor and privilege to have worked with Pete for several years at the Internal Revenue Service. You can be proud of his efforts and accomplishments in the pioneering days of creating an enormously successful tax processing system. Pete and I had one other relationship not shared by many at the office. We were both avid Chicago Cubs fans. I will always have fond memories of Pete.
