A wonderful Doctor and Person. Dr. Oltermann helped me many times. He was always fun to be with, especially in the OR where he and Donald would banter. Dr. Oltermann was such a fine person and physician. He was a tremendously kind and genuine human being. He truly served others so humbly and graciously. He was an incredibly skilled surgeon with great clinical judgement, and he cared deeply about his patients. As an oncologist who worked with him regularly, i found him to be so thoughtful, easy to consult with about mutual patients, and always so friendly, with a great, quiet sense of humor. The last time I saw him was at a retirement celebration in the cancer center, and he talked about his grandchildren with the biggest, brightest smile on his face. I am so sorry for your loss,

Was so very sad to hear of the passing of Dr Oltermann. He operated on me several times while I was residing in Reedville,one being an emergency, and my son. A fabulous surgeon and a wonderful, caring person. God bless him and his family. Peace of the Lord to all of you.

I was privileged to have the opportunity to work with Dr Oltermann through the hospital. He was an excellent surgeon and a great individual. He and I loved to talk about older muscle cars and how cars have changed over the years. He helped mold both of my kids as they worked in the OR as junior volunteers. They both appreciate him and have a deep respect for him. Our family is so sorry for your loss and our prayers are with you all.

Dr. Oltermann was the first Dr. I met after starting work at RGH. I worked weekends starting at 7am on Saturday . He Sauntered into the Radiology Dept., asking if I had completed x days on his post op patient yet.. He was not sure who I was, but after seeing that I was busy, gave me instructions of how we were going to handle his patients! I was impressed by his caring attitude for his patients, and his reasoning for his " instructions'. I always stood by what he said and told me that first morning; and it made his patients interests come first ; yet he was always ready to give you a wink if he knew you were doing your best to help him to do his job! You will be missed by many; and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to meet and work with him at RGH.

My deepest sympathy to the family of a truly wonderful person. I learned so much from Dr, Oltermann, he never hesitated to take time to explain and help shape me as a nurse. He was always so kind to all his patients. Our RGH family has lost a shining star but Heaven has gained another angel.

Dear Mrs. Oltermann, We are so shocked and sadden to read today of Dr. Oltermann's death. We both were patients of his and cared so much for him. My husband suffered years with stomach issues due to past surgeries and your husband re-constructed his parts and made him well. I know he will be terribly missed by all that had the pleasure to know him. Such a loss at his young age. Judy Harvell
